BAND PRACTICE AND PRODUCTION WEEK 8

On Tuesday’s band rehearsal, we learnt Ellie’s first year band’s song “I Don’t Need You”. Here is a video of us playing it:

As we weren’t provided with a folder of tutorial videos from the first years, we had to learn all the individual parts of the song by listening to a performance video and learning by ear. This was difficult for every instrumentalist in the band, but we managed it. Now that we have learnt our parts we are going to continue to rehearse it until we are extremely confident for our performance in a weeks’ time.

Leila had to create a bassline for the song as she wasn’t provided with any tutorial. She did very well on this, and here is a clip of this:

On Wednesday in our production lesson, we attempted to start creating a remix of our song “Conscience Alley”. Here is a clip of this:

Instead of a drum beat on this remix, we chose a digital beat which fits with the bassline and guitar riff, our aim was to try and turn the song into a club styled remix. We added an underwater effect to the guitar (which needs tweaking) and some synth styled notes to the bassline. For Ellie’s vocals, we echoed and repeated them in another synth styled sound to fit the club genre. We want to add an instrumental build up and then a drop. Hopefully this will be completed soon.

For the rest of our rehearsals during the week, we worked on rehearsing “Conscience Alley”, “Lesson Learnt” and we also started working on our third song “Judas” again. Here are some clips of us rehearsing these songs:

And on Friday we recorded at SAE again! We managed to get both Ellie’s and my own vocals done for both songs in just a few hours. I am really looking forward for when both the songs are mixed and mastered so we can release them.
