BAND PRACTICE AND PRODUCTION WEEK 5

This week in rehearsals, we finished our second original! Ellie and myself wrote the lyrics, melodies and harmonies together which really added structure to the song. I then listened to what Will was playing on guitar and what Leila was playing on bass, and added piano parts for the verses and pre-chorus of the song. I am hoping to add some piano stuff on the chorus’ but I was struggling to come up with anything more in rehearsals, so this is going to be my target for next weeks rehearsals.

We have gone over our second original “Lesson Learnt” several times now, and I am confident about performing this at the gig tomorrow.

In our production lesson, we started to mix and master the bass in the mastering suite. We looked and experimented with several different effects on the bass but we are currently undecided, what we are going to do with it, so we are going to come back to that next week.

Now that we have both our first and second originals basically finished, we started to focus on stage movement and band interaction, which I have written more about in my “Preparation for Halloween gig” blog post.

Hopefully, next week, we will continue to work on our recordings in our production lessons, and perhaps start writing a third original song.
