During our first rehearsal this week, we practiced our first original “Conscience Alley” and discussed the techniques we were going to use to record it in the studio the next day. We continued to write our second original, but it felt difficult to try and get it to the standard of our first song. I think now that we have our first original completely finished, we now need to start focusing on stage presence and band interaction on stage for our college performances and external gigs.
On Wednesday in our production lesson, we started to record “Conscience Alley”. We are recording all the instrumentation individually, starting with drums first, then guitar, bass, keys and finally lead and backing vocals. First of all, we set up and miked the drum kit, and then Jack started to record his takes to a click track. Then Will and Leila started to record guitar and bass, followed by myself recording keys, so now, all that is left is vocals to record.
Here is a video of our production lesson:
For our Thursday band rehearsal, we continued to write our second original, and managed to get a first and second verse, and a build-up before the chorus. But our productivity came to a crash after that for the rest of the week, due to tension within the band after a fall out. Hopefully, next week we can have our second original completed, and everyone will come back fresh after the weekend.
