Specialist Techniques Workshop: Preparing individual parts for song swap challenge

Today, for our specialist techniques workshop, we had to prepare for our song swap challenge which is coming up soon. Our task was to create individual tutorial videos of “Conscience Alley” to give to Ellie’s first year band so they could learn our song properly. I had to make a piano tutorial video and a vocal tutorial video, explaining what to sing and play, and how to sing and play it.


Although we do have another song written now which is called “Lesson Learnt” we chose to give “Conscience Alley” to the first years to learn, as it is an upbeat and fun song to play, and it allows each individual musician to show off what they can sing/play and allows you to move around on stage too, because of breaks in the song and instrumental sections. As this song has lots of different parts to it, it will be interesting to hear the first year’s interpretation of the song.


We all recorded our individual parts, and placed them into a folder for the first years to take and learn. We also provided them with a video for how we rehearse “Conscience Alley” as a full band which I will link below:
